Bursary Funding Support

In Brighton & Hove, post-16 schools, colleges and independent training providers have worked together to agree a common set of principles for how bursary funding is awarded to students. Each establishment will have some flexibility in how it operates its funds but providers in Brighton & Hove are committed to working in partnership to ensure that funds are given out fairly, regardless of which college you chose to attend. All providers work in accordance with ESFA regulations and guidance.

Students can apply for financial support through our Bursary Fund. Hove Park Sixth Form is responsible for determining the eligibility of applicants for financial support from this fund and for deciding the amount each student should receive. This fund is used to help students who face genuine financial barriers to attending college. It cannot be awarded for costs unrelated to course studies. We aim to distribute the funds fairly with regard to the needs of each individual Bursary applicant. Bursary funding can make all the difference to a student’s studies e.g. paying for bus/train fare, getting all text books/revision guides provided for your courses, paying for course trips, having an iPad/laptop to support learning, getting other equipment needed for your course (for example a camera for photography or materials for a graphic design course). Students eligible for Bursary funding are also given a rucksack and stationery starter pack.

If you would like to be considered for Bursary Funding support, please read the guidance on the application form. Once you have read the guidance, please complete fully and return the application form, along with the original paperwork evidence in support of the application. We are unable to accept photocopies of evidence. We will discuss with successful applicants what their individual financial support needs are, and will purchase equipment or make travel refunds as we deem most appropriate.
