Sixth Form Open Evening

This year we are pleased to be opening our doors for our Open Evening (Thursday 4th November) where parents can see a presentation by our Head of Sixth Form and have the opportunity to ask questions to the Sixth Form Team.

Hove Park School and Sixth Form is delighted with the results of our A-level students, who have worked so hard this year to achieve success. In Year 13 there were excellent results in subjects such as Law, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, Maths, Psychology, Sociology, Graphics, Health & Social, Tourism, and History. The accomplishments of our students will allow them to move on to the next step of their career pathways, whether that is university, an apprenticeship, or straight into the world of work. These achievements are the result of the hard work put in by students, but also by Hove Park School and Sixth Form teaching staff. Students leave Hove Park having benefitted from our programme of support and career guidance, designed to ensure students will be successful in whatever they do. Head teacher, Jim Roberts, was delighted with the results and praised the hard work of both the students and staff. He said: ‘We are all very proud of our students and their achievements. The challenges of the last eighteen months should not distract us from acknowledging and celebrating their success. These results are a true reflection of student commitment to their studies and high-quality teaching. Hove Park Sixth Form is about helping students move forwards and take the next steps in their chosen career path. We wish them all the very best and look forward to hearing about their future successes.’ Individual success stories include…. Aya– achieved A, B, B in English Literature, Art and Sociology and is taking up a place at Bath University to study Sociology Danyal– is going to Sussex University to take a Business degree incorporating management, economics and finance after taking A’ Levels in Business and Biology and the CTEC Sports course for which he achieved a Merit Jess– is going to study Sociology with Criminology at Chichester University after achieving success in Sociology, Business and Law Miriam – is also going to Sussex University to take a Law degree with International Relations. Miriam achieved successful results in English Literature, Sociology and Law Al – has already started a 15-month apprenticeship in insurance at Brighton Met following a successful set of results in Tourism, Art and Maths

On Saturday, 9th November, Faizah & Anikah attended Charity Week’s Annual Dinner, representing Hove Park Sixth Form. The young ladies won an award at the evening in being recognized for their hard work successfully fundraising in their first year for the Charity Week organisation.

With Sixth Form now based on our Valley Campus, the opportunities for Sixth Form to mentor, teach and coach younger students are endless. A great addition to any young person’s CV or UCAS form and one of the great benefits of attending Hove Park Sixth Form.

Hove Park School is delighted that so many of our A-level students have deservedly done so well. They have worked hard and their accomplishments will allow students to move forwards onto the next step of their career pathway be that university, apprenticeship or straight into the world of work. In year 13 the sixth form had excellent results in Product Design, Graphic Communications, Photography, English Literature, Geography, History, Italian, Core Maths, and Portuguese with all of these subjects producing a positive value added score meaning that they did better than the national average. Other successes come from Maths, English Literature, Chemistry, Physics, Arabic, Graphic Design, Product Design, Photography, Art and Design, Geography all achieving 100% success rates. This is testament to the hard work put in not only by the students but also by Hove Park staff. This year’s results come at an exciting time as Hove Park Sixth form relocates to the Valley Campus from September 2019. Our new programmes of study are designed to ensure that every student experiences a career driven pathway enriched with additional opportunities linked to developing both personal and employment specific skills and attributes. Individual success stories for this year include : Sky McLean who achieved B,B,C grades in English Literature, History and Sociology. Sky will take up a place at Sussex University to read History. Syeda Begum who achieved, A*, Distinction and Merit in Tourism, Business and ICT. Syeda goes on to Chichester University to study 3D animation and visual effects. Amjad Yabroudi who joined at the beginning of year 10 with English as an additional language achieved an A* in Arabic, and a pass in ICT and Business BTEC. He now goes to Middlesex University to study Digital media. Head teacher Jim Roberts was delighted with the results and praised the hard work of both the students and staff. He said ‘I am very proud of the students and their achievements. Our 6th Form is about moving students forward and helping them take the next steps in their chosen career path. We wish them all the very best for the future and look forward to hearing about all their future successes.

September 2019 sees the Sixth Form refocus its learning to ensure all students are able to achieve the career pathway for them. The introduction of our 4 distinct pathways (Health and Leisure, People and Society, Digital fluency, and Business of Sport) will ensure that students not only get the qualifications they need to move into their chosen career but will also give students a range of additional skills vital for them to succeed. This will include access to work experience placements in their chosen career path as well as leadership opportunities and additional qualifications.

On 9th September 2019 the Valley Campus opens its doors to its newest members – the Sixth Form. Taking residence in what used to be the staff room, Sixth Form has its own self-contained area along with teaching spaces accessible only to Sixth Form students. Being at the Valley Campus opens up numerous opportunities for Sixth Form students to embellish their CV and UCAS application with numerous leadership opportunities working with Years 7 and 8. Exciting times ahead!
